Zinsser Peel Stop Primer Paint
Details:
Zinsser Peel Stop® Clear Binding Primer
Stop peeling, flaking, and cracking paint in its tracks with Zinsser Peel Stop® Clear Binding Primer. Designed as a clear, flexible bridging sealer, Peel Stop penetrates into tiny cracks and gaps under old paint edges to "glue" them down, creating a sound, stable surface for your finish coat.
Unlike traditional primers, Peel Stop forms a tough, breathable membrane that allows interior and exterior moisture vapour to escape, preventing future blistering and peeling.
🌟 Key Features & Benefits
-
Stops Active Peeling: Tightly glues down worn paint edges and seals alligatoring, flaking, or checking coatings.
-
Flexible & Breathable: Forms an elastomeric membrane that moves with wood and masonry while letting trapped moisture escape.
-
Binds Chalky Surfaces: Deeply penetrates chalking, dusting, or degraded paint layers to restore structural integrity.
-
Interior & Exterior Use: Versatile protection for indoor walls and outdoor cladding, trim, and masonry.
-
Fast-Drying: Dries to the touch in 1 hour and ready to recoat/topcoat in 2 hours.
-
Easy Clean-Up: Water-based acrylic formula cleans up easily with warm, soapy water.

🛠️ How to Apply
-
Surface Preparation:
-
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dirt, grease, oil, or mildew.
-
Scrape away all loose or poorly adhered paint.
-
Feather-sand rough edges to blend transitions.
-
-
Application:
-
Stir thoroughly before use. Do not thin.
-
Apply using a synthetic bristle brush, microfiber roller, or airless sprayer.
-
Back-brush or roll into cracks and underneath remaining paint edges to ensure deep penetration.
-
Apply a second coat if dull or porous spots appear.
-
-
Topcoating:
-
Once cured (2 hours), topcoat with any high-quality latex or alkyd/oil-based primer or paint.
-
Pro Tip: Because Peel Stop dries clear, tinting is not recommended. For optimum hide and coverage, apply a high-hide primer like Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3® or Zinsser Cover Stain® before applying your topcoat.
