Osmo UV Protection Oil 425 Oak
Details:
Osmo UV Protection Oil is a natural oil-based finish designed specifically to maintain the original natural tone of exterior vertical timber surfaces. Enhanced with specialized organic UV filters, it acts as a sunscreen for wood, delaying the natural greying process up to 12 times longer than untreated wood while protecting against weather damage, dirt, and rot.
Formulated to bond deep within timber fibres, it creates a flexible, microporous surface that allows the wood to breathe, reducing swelling and shrinkage.
Key Features & Benefits
- Advanced UV Protection: Contains active UV-blockers that prevent sunlight from breaking down wood fibres and greying the natural timber colour.
- Microporous & Breathable: Allows internal moisture to escape, ensuring the finish will not crack, peel, flake, or blister over time.
- Water & Dirt Repellent: Provides a highly durable barrier that causes water to bead off and prevents fungal growth or blue stain.
- Safe & Environmentally Friendly: Natural vegetable oil formulation that is safe for plants and animals once fully dry.
- Easy Maintenance: Re-application requires no sanding—simply clean the wood surface and apply a fresh topcoat.
Application & Usage
- Ideal Surfaces: Exterior vertical wooden structures including cladding, doors, windows, shutters, fencing, carports, and timber cladding. (Note: Not recommended for flat horizontal decking surfaces—use Osmo Decking Oil instead).
- Coverage: Up to 18 m² per litre on smooth surfaces (coverage varies based on wood porosity).
- Drying Time: Approximately 12 hours under standard conditions (+23°C / 50% relative humidity).
- System Recommendation: Apply 2 coats on raw exterior timber as a stand-alone finish, or apply 1 topcoat over a previously tinted Osmo exterior finish to extend UV defence.
Natural oil-based and microporous finish which does not crack, flake, peel or blister.
Water and dirt resistant, moisture regulating and reduces wood swelling and shrinkage.
External elements of weathering fade the natural colour of the wood to a grey patina over time, but UV-Protection Oil has been developed to resist against this, whilst maintaining the wood's natural appearance.
Ideal for windows, doors, cladding, fencing and other vertically structured joinery to block the greying process of the wood by a UV-protected factor of 12 in comparison to untreated wood.
