HR-Prof 5 Litre Flame Retardant for Timber

A clear, water-based flame retardant treatment for internal and external timber

Product Description

HR-Prof is a market-leading, clear flame retardant treatment specifically formulated for timber and other porous combustible building materials. Unlike intumescent systems, HR-Prof works through absorption, penetrating deep into the wood's cellular structure to provide long-lasting fire protection that becomes part of the substrate itself .

This ecologically friendly, non-toxic, and solvent-free solution restricts ignition and significantly slows the spread of flame. Once applied and dried, HR-Prof will not leach or wash out, is not broken down by water or humidity, and will remain effective for the lifetime of the timber . It also possesses anti-fungicidal properties, helping to protect treated timber from fungal attack .

Why Choose HR-Prof?

  • Superior Fire Protection: Achieves Euroclass B-s1, d0 and UK Class 0/Class 1 certification

  • Long-Lasting: Fire retardant properties remain active for the lifetime of the substrate - no reapplication needed

  • Weather Resistant: Suitable for external use; will not leach or wash out once dry

  • Versatile Application: For use on cladding, log cabins, staircases, doors, joists, flooring, garages, summer houses, saunas, bathrooms, and pool enclosures

  • Non-Corrosive: Will not react with galvanised steel, stainless steel, brass, or zinc-coated fixings

  • Finish Options: Clear finish (may slightly darken certain timbers); can be over-coated with stains, varnishes, and compatible paints

Fire Performance Certification

Standard Classification
EN 13501-1 (Reaction to Fire) Euroclass B-s1, d0 (highest classification for this product type)
BS 476 Part 6 & 7 UK Class 0 and Class 1
EN 13501-1 Coverings classes K1₀ and K2₁₀

Note: Please be aware that independent scientific studies have shown that the effectiveness of HR-Prof can be significantly reduced in fully exposed external environments (direct sun and rain), where the treatment may wash out over time. The product performs best in interior or protected exterior environments (e.g., under eaves or soffits). For fully exposed external applications, a protective top coat is strongly recommended.
