Zinsser Gardz® is a unique, high-performance water-based sealer engineered specifically for porous and problematic interior surfaces. Unlike standard primers, this specialist formula penetrates deeply into substrate surfaces, drying to form a rock-hard, moisture-resistant film that effectively seals and stabilises challenging surfaces .

The product takes the "problem" out of problem surfaces — whether you're dealing with damaged drywall, old wallpaper adhesive residue, chalky plaster, or crumbling texture finishes, Gardz creates a sound, stable foundation ready for redecoration .

🔧 Recommended Uses

Zinsser Gardz is suitable for a wide range of interior problem surfaces, including:

• Damaged Drywall: Repairs torn facing paper and prevents bubbles when skim coating with spackling or joint compound 

• New Drywall & Joint Compound: Seals porous surfaces to prevent blotchy topcoat finishes 

• Plaster: Seals new and old plaster surfaces; new plaster must be cured for at least 24 hours before application 

• Calcimine: Effectively seals old, chalky calcimine coatings with lower odour than oil-based alternatives 

• Wallpaper Adhesive Residue: Seals in residual paste that water-based paints or textures would otherwise reactivate 

• Texture & Popcorn Finishes: Penetrates and strengthens soft, crumbly texture materials 

• Chalky or Crumbling Surfaces: Binds down chalky paints and stabilises unsound surfaces 

Limitations

• Not recommended for floors, decks, or surfaces subject to immersion or prolonged water exposure 

• Interior use only
