Architects' Eggshell is a high-performance, water-based paint developed by Paint & Paper Library, specifically formulated to deliver a refined low-sheen finish suitable for both interior and exterior applications.

The product has been reformulated to enhance performance, with the updated version featuring improved durability and self-priming capabilities. As noted in the RIBA Journal report from July 2023, the Architects' finish range was updated to meet professional specification standards.

• Sheen Level: 10-20% on a 60° meter, described as a "smooth low sheen" that sits between matt and satin for a subtle, elegant, almost flat appearance

Performance and Durability

• Fully Washable: Can be washed and wiped clean without compromising the finish or colour

Suitable Surfaces and Applications

Interior

• Walls and Ceilings: Plaster walls, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms

• Woodwork: Trim, doors, wooden furniture

• Metalwork: Radiators, metal furniture

• Tiles and Glass: Splashbacks, around baths and sinks (not recommended for shower cubicles)

Exterior

• Woodwork (doors, sheds, joinery)

• Metalwork

• Note: Wood must be dry before exterior application

Temperature Conditions

Do not apply when the surface temperature is below 10°C or above 25°C. Avoid application in direct sunlight or full sun conditions.

Application Guidelines

Surface Preparation

• Ensure surfaces are sound, clean, dry, and free from grease and contaminants

• Remove loose or defective paint

• Sound previously painted surfaces: sand to provide a key

• Bare or new surfaces: apply 3 coats and allow full cure before washing

Application Notes

• Stir well before use

• Apply evenly by brush, roller, or spray

• If using conventional sprayer: thin up to 40% with water

• If using airless sprayer: thin up to 20% with water
