Thermoguard Asbestos Encapsulating Smoke Flame Retardant
Details:
Thermoguard Asbestos Encapsulating Smoke & Flame Retardant Coat is a specialized product designed to seal and encapsulate asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) within buildings, preventing the release of harmful asbestos fibers into the atmosphere. Here’s a detailed description of the product:
Purpose:
The product is used to seal rigid, sound asbestos in areas within buildings that are not prone to mechanical damage, are concealed, or are difficult to access. It’s also used to seal isolated asbestos fibers remaining after primary asbestos removal.
It effectively prevents the release of asbestos fibers into the atmosphere by encapsulating them and permanently bonding residual asbestos fibers to surfaces.
Pack Sizes:
Available in 12m² or 50m² pack sizes, with each tin containing sufficient product for applying two coats to the stated areas.
Recommended Uses:
Internal wall panels, top and underside of ceiling panels, rigid internal ducts or pipework, external wall sheets, fascia, or soffits.
Fire Rating:
BS EN Class B s1 d0 and Class O on bare or painted non-combustible surfaces.
Product Description:
The sealer coating is based on a unique, highly adhesive resin that is highly plasticized for outstanding flexibility to withstand normal movement within a building. It incorporates flame retardant, smoke, and flaming droplet suppressing compounds.
Water-based, solvent-free, and low odor.

Apply two coats. The first coat should be thinned 10% with water and applied at 10m² per liter. The second coat should be applied undiluted at 10m² per liter.
Application methods include brush, roller, or low-pressure HVLP spray.
Ensure a continuous film has been created, surfaces are dry, and surfaces are cleaned where practical.
Health & Safety:
Surfaces should be cleaned with a minimum type H vacuum cleaner or manual cleaning in a wet/washing process to avoid the release of asbestos fibers into the atmosphere.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as disposable full-body hooded overalls, plastic shoe covers, plastic gloves, goggles, and sealed masks with fine dust particle filters are recommended.
Dispose of used PPE and cleaning materials in approved facilities.
Fire Certificate:
Thermoguard provides a fire certificate for non-combustible surfaces after confirmation of application.
